Dear Members & Colleagues

With over 200 people in attendance, our ‘Celebrating Women in the Judiciary’ cocktail event held on 24 July 2008 to celebrate the appointment of twenty two women to the bench since our last event in February in 2006, was an outstanding success. Click here to read the Press Release with further details and photos.

It was pleasing to see the announcement shortly following this event in regard to Julie Ward’s upcoming appointment to the Supreme Court. A partner at Mallesons Stephen Jaques, Julie Ward is the State's first female solicitor to be appointed directly to the NSW Supreme Court.

Our ‘Financially Fit for Life’ seminar on 7 August attracted an almost full-house and a great deal of interest. Our next event hosted by Clayton Utz on 28 August ‘Help! My daughter wants to be a Workplace Relations Lawyer!’ is detailed below.

I would also like to take this opportunity to reiterate that our continuing operations and activities are dependent on the support from members. We have been fortunate with major sponsorship from NAB over the past years, however, this will not be continuing. If you have not yet joined or renewed please forward your renewal or application – we need your support.  Click here for Membership Form. If you are unsure about your membership status, please contact our Executive Officer on (02) 4392 1185 or at executive@womenlawyersnsw.org.au.

Yours faithfully,

Lee-May Saw
President

“Help! My Daughter wants to be a Workplace Relations Lawyer!”

Our panel includes:
Kate Eastman, Barrister, St James Hall Chambers
Kylie Nomchong, Barrister, Denham Chambers
Tony Farley, Executive Director, Catholic Commission for Employment Relations
