The peak national body for women lawyers in Australia, AWL was officially launched on Friday 19 September 1997. AWL’s parton is the Honourable Chief Justice Diana Bryant of the Family Court of Australia The primary concern of AWL is the practice and advancement of women in the legal profession.

Victorian Women Lawyers

National Women’s Justice Coalition Incorporated
The NWJC was established in February 1995 in response to the Australian Law Reform Commission’s three reports on Equality Before the Law released in 1994. NWJC is a coalition of organisations and individuals united by the common aim of promoting women’s equality before the law in Australia.

National Association of Community Legal Centres
Community Legal Centres (CLCs) are independent, non-profit organisations which provide referral, advice and assistance to more than 350,000 people each year. These services are provided free of charge. There are currently 207 centres in Australia. They range from centres with no paid staff to offices of ten or more employees. Most centres are able to provide confidential advice and assistance about a variety of legal matters.

The Office of the Status of Women
The Australian Government Office of the Status of Women has a number of roles.
- Provides high level (policy and other) advice to the Prime Minister and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Status of Women
- Administers programmes, including most significantly programmes to combat domestic violence and sexual assault
- Advises on legislative issues relating to women
- Provides the principal focus on consultation between the women's sector and government; and
- Represents government at national and international forums on women's issues, such as the United Nations

Government Services for Women
Currently, a large amount of online government information, services and resources is scattered across a range of agency and programme websites. www.women.gov.au also known as the Women’s Portal, aims to improve access to government information and services by providing a single website from which these online resources can be searched and accessed. It is essentially a directory of these resources, which is intended to simplify the process of locating government information.
NSW Network of Women with Disability
The NSW Network of Women with Disabilities was formed in response to the need for a forum where women with disability could:
build a community in which women could share their stories, knowledge and skills; connect with each other; share ideas; share experiences; support each other; create a place where women can celebrate their individual and collective differences as women with disability; and work towards inclusion and equality for women with disability. The Network is facilitated by the Physical Disability Council of NSW and Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association.

German Women Lawyers’ Association (Deutscher Juristinnenbund e.V.)
The German Women Lawyers Association was re-established in 1948, and considers itself successor of the German Women Lawyers Society (Deutscher Juristinnenverein) which was founded in 1914 and forced to disband when Hitler assumed power in 1933. This site is in German with some sections in English.

Portuguese Association of Jurists Women
The Portuguese Association of Jurists Women was established in the summer of 1988. It is a non-governmental association established with the purpose of “contributing to the critical study of Law on the prospect of the defence of Women rights”. The primary site is in Portuguese but there is also an English version.

An Australian website, Beyond Bullying (www.beyondbullying.com.au) provides information, resources and guidance on workplace bullying, what it is, how it progresses, and what employers can do to prevent it. The Resources and Links page provides useful directions to workplace safety authorities regarding workplace bullying, publications and other websites. It also describes case law summaries of recent bullying and harassment cases.
