The peak body representing women lawyers in NSW for the advancement of women in the legal profession.

Women Lawyers Association of NSW

22 June 2009

Dear Members & Colleagues

The Women Lawyers’ Association of New South Wales (WLA NSW) are proud to announce that nominations for their 4th New South Wales Women Lawyers Achievement Awards are now open. Please click here for the Nomination Form and note that the closing date is 31st July 2009.

The Awards, which celebrate the success and achievements of women in law, are supported by the Attorney-General’s Department of NSW, the NSW Bar Association, the Law Society of New South Wales, the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association, and the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency.

Five categories of Awards will be presented at a Gala Dinner to be held at 7:30pm on Friday, 25 September 2009 at the Watersedge, Sydney:

  • Woman Lawyer of the Year in Private Practice;
  • "In House" Woman Lawyer of the Year;
  • Woman Lawyer of the Year in a Community Organisation;
  • Woman Lawyer Advocate of the Year;
  • Upcoming Woman Lawyer of the Year

This is a fantastic opportunity for lawyers to ensure that the accomplishments of their female colleagues are recognised in a significant way.

With three women sitting on the current High Court bench, and women lawyers holding senior positions in record numbers, it is very much a time for celebrating the merit and excellence of women in the legal profession.

The Executive Committee of WLA NSW welcome all nominations for outstanding woman lawyers, and encourage all to mark their diaries with the date and details for the 2009 Awards Gala Dinner.

Limited sponsorship opportunities are still available for the Awards.

Please contact Kathryn McKenzie, Executive Officer on (02) 4392 1185, or at, for sponsorship packages or further information.

Kind regards,
Mary Snell
