Corporate Lunch Series 2009: Monday 11 May
“Trends in the Global Regulatory Environment”

My Year Without SexNola Watson is Head of Chief Executive Office, Direct Insurance at Insurance Australia Group (IAG).  Until 2009, she was the Head of Government & International Relations for the group where she managed IAG’s engagement with governments, industry and non government organizations (NGOs) globally.  Nola was previously Head of Corporate Risk Services in IAG, where she had responsibility for risk management across the broad range of operational risks.

   Prior to IAG, Nola worked in senior executive positions within Federal and NSW governments, primarily in Attorney-General’s and law enforcement portfolios.  She was part of the executive leadership team for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.  She also served in a diplomatic position in Washington DC for 3 years.

   Nola is currently a Director of the NRMA & IAG Superannuation Board and a Member of the Australia Network (ABC Asia Pacific television) Advisory Panel.  She was previously a Director of Business for Millennium Development, Director of Australian Services Roundtable, a Member of the St James Ethics Centre Advisory Committee and member of the NSW Premiers Crime Prevention Council.

   She holds degrees from Sydney University and Australian National University.  She has business qualifications from INSEAD France and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

   In 2001, Nola was named the Telstra Australian Businesswoman of the Year in the community and government category.  She was awarded the Commonwealth of Australia Centenary Medal for services to Australian society in business leadership.  In 2008, she participated as an invited delegate to the Prime Minister’s 2020 Summit.
