Dear Members & Colleagues Further to our earlier enews, Justice Virginia Bell will be speaking at our upcoming function "Celebrating Women in the Judiciary" Cocktail Event on Thursday 23rd February. Most appointees and distinguished guests have confirmed their attendance, including the Hon. James Spigelman AC, Chief Justice of NSW. 3 March 2006, Friday 12pm "Jessie Street Trust Annual Lunch" with guest speaker The Hon. Mary Gaundron QC at Parliament House Sydney. Jessie Street fought for women's rights, the rights of Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders, the promotion of peace and disarmament and the eliminiation of all forms of discrimination. She often used her own money to support the causes she cared about. The Jessie Street Trust continues this tradition by awarding an annual grant to a project with these goals by hosting an annual fund raising lunch at NSW Parliament House.
