Dear Members & Colleagues I was delighted to represent WLANSW as a guest of the Anglo-Australasian Lawyers Society last Wednesday and have the opportunity to hear Justice Ruth McColl AO speak on "Women and the Law" concerning the judicial appointment process. It is pleasing to see that the upcoming female contingent of the Bar Readers course comprises over 40% of the total intake which perhaps reflects the hard work over the past five years with encouraging more women to the Bar. WLANSW invites you to their bi-annual "Female Bar Readers Welcome & Networking Lunch" this Friday 12th MayOur Newcastle chapter is also recommencing their monthly networking lunch this Friday. Details are noted below. We have some fabulous events planned for June and I encourage you to join us on 8th June for "Success strategies for women in law", details below, followed by a special luncheon and presentation "Advancing Women in Law" by Senator the Hon Helen Coonan, Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Deputy Leader of the Government in the Senate on 23rd June; further details shortly.
