At the time of its inception, female barristers were experiencing discrimination in their search for professional accommodation. That difficulty having been dramatically reduced, it is now time to terminate the lease and celebrate the progress made on this issue over the last 25 years. Please note that this event is hosted by Frederick Jordan Chambers and is by invitation only, but should you be interested in attending, please contact: Elleanor Gillard, Ph. 92297377, Email gillard@fjc.net.au |

August 1, Wednesday 6:00pm: The annual Sydney University Law Society Women's Mentoring Program. This is a unique opportunity to provide assistance and guidance to a young female law student interested in your line of work. Prospective mentors must be able to attend the Program Launch at Mallesons Stephen Jaques on Wednesday, 1 August 2007 from 6:00pm. There are no other compulsory time commitments and future meetings will be up to each student-mentor pair to co-ordinate. In previous years, students have arranged to meet for lunch or coffee with their mentors perhaps two or three times per year. In other cases, students have ‘shadowed’ their mentors for a day in court, chambers or offices, or simply had the comfort of knowing they had someone to call for advice and guidance while preparing for job interviews. Please see the attached documents for more information. If you are interested in acting as a mentor in this year’s program please email Julia Bowes at women@suls.org.au ASAP.
